Abstract

1448639 A bolt INGERSOLL LOCKS Ltd 8 Nov 1974 48542/74 Heading E2A A bolt 10 comprises a housing 11, an elongate bolt-member 13 which is mounted for axial sliding movement through the housing between a locking position and a retracted position, and retaining means 15 operable by a key 30 for retaining the bolt member in the locking position and in the retracted position. The retaining means 15 has a retaining member 23, Fig. 2, which is screwably received in a screwthreaded bore 22 formed in the bolt-member 13, has a boss-portion 25 for insertion into apertures formed in face 28 of the housing 11, and has an operating portion 26 having a non- circular cross-section for engagement in a recess 31 of the key 30. The latter is passed through a slot 29 formed in a face 28' of the housing 11 and, when the bore 22 is in alignment with an aperture 27 formed in the face 28 of the housing, the key is rotated so as to cause the boss-portion 25 of the bolt-member 13 to enter said aperture 27 and thus lock the bolt-member in the locking position. Locking of the bolt-member in its retracted position is effected by rotating the key so as to cause the boss portion to enter another aperture (not shown) formed in the face 28 of the housing. Removal of the retaining member 23 from the bore 22 is prevented by a sleeve 35, Fig. 2, and removal of the bolt-member from the housing is prevented by pins 16a, 16b. Slots 17a, 17b are provided in the housing for the respective pins. The housing is provided with screw holes 20 and access holes 19. In a modification (not shown) the slot 29 is formed in the face 18 of the housing and apertures 27 are formed in the face 18'. Mounting screws (not shown) are obscured by the bolt member 13 when the bolt is mounted for use.
