Abstract

1,101,033. Moulding lipsticks and the like. KOLMAR COSMETICS (EUROPA) A.G. 19 March, 1965 [27 March, 1964], No. 11762/65. Heading B5A. In a method of moulding material that shrinks on setting e.g. lipstick, in which the molten material is cast into an open mould and cooled, the free surface layer of the material is kept in the fluid state by local radiation heating during at least part of the mould cooling time. This prevents shrinkage holes in the moulded article. The heating may be carried out towards the end of the solidification process and the mould may form a packing case for the article. Moulds (10) containing molten material are carried on a conveyer belt (40) through a cooling zone A where the material cools to room temperature, then below a heating ramp (42) consisting of infra-red radiation to locally heat the surface of the material and then through a final cooling zone (44).
