Abstract

1,100,400. Boxes. BOWATER PACKAGING Ltd. 9 Nov., 1966, No. 50148/66. Heading B8P. An outer rectangular case for a receptacle containing a liquid or a powder is formed from a one-piece blank having an inner pair of closure flaps 20, 20<SP>1</SP> (Fig. 2) hingedly connected to the opposite sides 2, 4 and folded inwardly to form a panel 22<SP>1</SP> engaging the upper surface of the receptacle V and upon itself to form a box section, the top panel 24<SP>1</SP> of which engages outer closure flaps 50, 60 attached to the sides 1, 3 of the box. As described, the spacer and top panels 23<SP>1</SP> and 241 are slit at 30<SP>1</SP>, 31<SP>1</SP> to form a vertical panel 33<SP>1</SP> and a panel 32<SP>1</SP> overlying the panel 22, a slot 38<SP>1</SP> in which is engaged by a tongue 44<SP>1</SP> in the panel 33<SP>1</SP>. An outer flap 50 is folded over the box sections 20, 20<SP>1</SP>, a cut-out portion 51 registering with the discharge outlet O of the inner receptacle V and a spacer tongue 57 positioned between the spacer panels 23, 23<SP>1</SP>. The outermost flap 60 is then folded over and secured, apertures 11 and 40<SP>1</SP> in the side wall 1 and top panel 24<SP>1</SP> facilitating stapling. A removable portion (65) (Fig. 3, not shown) in the lid 60 is aligned with the discharge outlet O whilst removable portions (63) are aligned with carrying handle apertures 52 in the flap 50 which in turn register with apertures 39<SP>1</SP> in the spacer and top panels 23<SP>1</SP>, 24<SP>1</SP>. Carrying handle apertures 8, 9 are also provided in the sides 2, 4 of the box.
