Abstract

1,100,327. Hot water boilers. G. FUCHS. 15 Dec., 1965, No. 53278/65. Heading F4A. A hot water boiler comprises an annular jacket 7 for central heating water, around a gas or oil heated combustion tube 8, the whole being immersed in the lower part of a cylindrical tap water heating tank 1. The jacket 7 is fed and discharged through connections 11, 12 respectively, and the tank 1 through connections 5, 6 respectively. The tank 1 has a length to diameter ratio of 3 : 1 and the ratio of the cross-sectional areas of the tank and the boiler is 6 : 1. Transverse ribs 20 in the form of annular discs both strengthen the jacket and help to transmit heat from the central heating water therein to the tap water in the tank 1. Alternatively the ribs may be formed from staggered crescent-shaped plates (see Fig. 3, not shown). At the far end from the burner (not shown) the tube 8 is replaced by a tube 15 with inwardly directed longitudinal ribs 16 (and see Figs. 2 and 3, not shown) which increases the heat transfer to the annular jacket 7.
