Abstract

110,018. Shaw, J. D. Oct. 4, 1916. Swivelling couplings; plug couplings. - A swivelling electric coupling by means of which electric connexion may be maintained between a fixed contact-carrying part and a part which may be rotated to prevent the conductors attached thereto from becoming twisted is constituted by rings placed opposite one another on the fixed or movable parts, respectively, engaged by loose rings between the two parts. As described applied to a two-plug coupling having conducting- pins 2, 3 partly covered by insulating-material 4, the plug 2 is connected to a ring 7 recessed in an annular channel in the plug-holder, and the plug 3 to a similar ring 10. The leads are secured to the rotary member 23 of the plug and connected through pins 21, 22 to rings 18, 17 corresponding to the rings 10, 7. Loose rings 15, 16 are located between and in contact with the two sets of rings, and the parts are held together so as to permit of relative rotation of the plug-holder and the member 23 by means of a cap 24 screwing on to the plug-holder and compressing a spring 26 on to the swivelling member 23. In the case of a coupling with more than two plugs, additional rings are provided. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 2333/95, 7985/04, 22188/11, and 6961/12.
