CHAIR-LES HORN, F MILLBOURNE, PENNSYLVANIA, ASSIGNOR, BY NlESNE ASSIGIF MENTS, TO HARVEY HUBBELL, INC., OF BRIDGEPORT, CONNECTICUT, AiCORPOBA- TION OF CONNECTICUT.
INDICATING ELECTRIC CONNECTOR. 4
To all whom it nmy concern:
Be it known that LCrrnnmils Home, a citizen of the United States, residing at Millbourne, Delaware county, Pennsylvania,
5 have invented certain Improvements in Indicating Electric Connectors,-of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to oonnecting'plugs having lampsfor indicating the character of the connection and my leading object is to provide improved. means for effecting the desired connection and indication. In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1. is a sectional elevation of an indicating electric conductor embodying my invention; Fig. 2 is a sectional view thereof, taken substantially on the line 7-7 of Fig. 1, looking in the direction of the arrow; Fig. 3 is .a plan view of a partly developed con tact device to be used in connection with the construction shown in Fig. 1, and Fig. 4 is a sectional view of the developed contact device.
As illustrated in the drawings, an insulat- 25 ing plug 413 is provided with the reduced head 44. A metal ring 45 ot' angular cross section encircles the plug 43 and the head 44, the ring having a tongue 46 formed integrally therewith and turned up -to perring. A threaded metal sleeve or shell contact 47 is swiveled on the plug 43 and is provided with lugs 48 which pass through are fixed to the insulating ring 49, which rests on the surface of the ring transverse to the sleeve, the latter being revoluble in contact with the cylindrical part of this ring surrounding the plug.
An insulating cap 50.has a chamber 51 extending therethrough into which the head 44 extends, the cap having the angularcontact 52 fixed inthe chamberin engagement with theshell contact 53 of the cap and the tongue 46 of the body, said shell closing said chamber. A contact passes through the bottom of the socket 53 and the part of the conductor 52 connected therewith (from which it is electrically separated by the insulating disk Specification otIietters mum.-

said passage and 1 '2. The combination of mit the passage of the head through the screw 54 forming a center Patented June 12, 1917 Serial if. 539,354.
55) thence ,through. the conductor 56 fixed to the cap by a screw 60, the insulating pack ing 57 on which the part 56 rests, and the plug 43, the parts being drawn together by a nut 58 ehgaging the end of the screw and the plug, said nut also serving as a center C071- tact for the plug.
Conducting wires 59 are engaged to the conductors 52 and 56 by the binding screws 60, and pass forwardly through the aperture 61 in the cap to a machine connected thereby in parallel witlr'the lamp 62.
Having described 'iiiyi.nvention, I claim; 1. The combination'of an insulating body, a contact comprising a resilient tongue fixed to said body, an insulating cap, containing a chamber and a passage, a conductor hav ing an inclined bearing disposed in sai chamber in engagement with said tongue, a conductor by which said body and cap are engaged together, wires passing through connected with said condoctors, a socketin said cap, and a lamp in said socket, said socket engaging one of saidconductors and said lamp engaging the other of said conductors.
an insulating body, a threaded conducting sleeve. swiveled thereon, a conducting ring onsaid bed in engagement with sai sleeve, said ring 1aving a conducting member projecting therefrom, an insulating cap containing a chamher, a lamp socket in said chamber, a conductor fixed to said cap insaicl chamber for connecting said socket with said projecting member,. a screw passing through said socket and through said'insulating body, a
I conductor fixed to said cap in said vchamber lamp in circuit with said socket and screw.
have hereunto set 'In testimony whereof I my. name this 22nd day of April, 1914, in
the presence of the subscribing witnesses.'
