Abstract
1,099,672. Magnetic tests. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Sept. 8, 1964 [Oct. 8, 1963), No. 39618/63. Heading G1N. Apparatus for determining whether the amount of free cobalt present in cobalt cemented tungsten carbide articles falls within acceptable limits comprises a tube T extending through passageways H 1 , H 2 in truncated conical magnetic polepieces P 1 , P 2 whereby a specimen S can be introduced within a search coil C, the electrical output of which coil is integrated and fed to a meter M which may indicate quantitatively and/or record the flux change in the search coil or may give a pass/reject indication. Flats F serve as low reluctance paths to introduce the main flux to the poles from permanent magnets or from steady electromagnetic excitation.
