Abstract

A multifilament yarn, in which the individual filaments cohere, but are not interlaced or twisted, has 0-0.25 t.p.i. of unidirectional twist, and 0.25-2.5 t.p.i. of heat-set unidirectional false-twist, and is made by imparting false-twist to the heated yarn in a conventional manner. The false-twist may be imparted after or during a drawing step. The yarn may be polyamide, e.g. polyhexamethylene adipamide; polyester, e.g. polyethylene terephthalate, or polyolefin, e.g. polypropylene.
