Abstract
Compounds of the formula <FORM:1097724/C2/1> wherein A and B are chosen from hydrogen, carboxamido, acetyl and carbomethoxy, at least one of A and B being other than hydrogen, and X- is an anion may be obtained by reacting a compound of the formula <FORM:1097724/C2/2> with a propargyl derivative of the formula HCC-CH2X and the reaction may be effected in an inert solvent. The anion X- may be a halide anion, preferably bromide, and it may be converted to other anions, e.g. acetate, sulphate, perchlorate or methosulphate by reaction of the pyridinium derivative with the silver salt of the desired anion.
