Abstract

1,096,987. Universal jousts. SOC. ANON. ANDRE CITROEN. Nov. 9, 1966 [Nov. 29, 1965], No. 50159/66. Heading E2F. A bellows-type protective gaiter 5, which may contain lubricant, for a universal joint 3 (centre at 4) is provided with means for attaching the ends of the gaiter respectively to the external and internal elements of the joint, or to shafts carrying said elements and includes at least one internal ring 6 formed by an extension of one of the internal folds 5a of the gaiter. As shown in Fig. 1, the ends of the gaiter are clipped on to the shaft 2 carrying the internal element and around the end of the external joint 3 or, as described in another embodiment, behind the spherical part of the external element, in which case at least one fold of the gaiter covers the spherical part. Several of the internal folds may be provided with ring-like extensions.
