Abstract

1,096,603. Supply systems for space heaters. C. F. LAWSON. Aug. 28, 1964 [Aug. 30, 1963], No. 34359/63. Heading H2H. A number of electric space-heating appliances are controlled from a master unit 1 by providing each appliance with a control unit in the form of a D.C. relay, Fig. 2 (not shown), whose contact is in series with the A.C. supply to the resistance heating element and whose coil is supplied from terminals 7 or 8 of the unit 1. The Figure shows two groups 18, 19 of such control units respectively connected to the rectified output of a transformer 2 through time switches 4, 3 and thermal switches 17, 20 responsive to the temperature of the enclosures in which the appliances are located. Mention is made of the possibility of making the control units in the form of receivers controlled by a master transmitter employing ultrasonic or radio waves with variable frequency and/or amplitude or suitable modulation.
