In an electric storage heater having a storage core 1, heat insulation 3 and an outer jacket 4, independent electric direct heating means 6 are located between the front wall 5 of the jacket 4 and the heat insulation 3. This direct heating element 6 is connected to supply mains, by way of a space thermostat and a front wall temperature regulator, by connecting lines.
