Sewing-machines; presser-feet; work-supports. -For abutting the edges of pieces of fabric before stitching them together, serving-machines are provided with guides adapted to turn the two edges of fabric into substantially V-shaped formation and gradually to decrease the degree of such formation. The presser-foot 11. is thickened at its receiving end and is provided with two converging guide walls w, bevelled on the underside to form a V-shaped groove of decreasing depth. Coacting with the presser-foot is a block 12, adjustably secured on the throat plate by means of the screw and slot 16, 14 and held against turning by the pin and slot 18, 19. The block is bevelled on its upper surface and has a projecting nose shaped to correspond with the converging walls of the foot, and recessed on its underface to clear the feed-dog. The guiding element which coacts with the block may be formed separately from, the presser-foot. According to the Provisional Specification, the guiding elements may be inverted.
