Sewing - machines ; presser - bars, duplex; presser feet. - In order that a sewing - machine may lay a cord upon the cloth as well as do the ordinary embroidery where t h e design comprises open or " Madeira " work, a supplementary presserfoot and guide mechanism is fitted. T h i s presser-foot d is spring- pressed, and is mounted on the cross-bar a, which carries the usual presser-feet b, in such a manner that its foot f is a short distance behind the usual presser-feet. It can be lifted out of action by a lever e when ordinary embroidery is to be done. The cord passes through a guide g adjustably mounted on one presser-foot band under the foot f, which is grooved at f<1> to take it.
