Abstract

1,094,405. Slings for invalids. C.H. HEWITT. Oct. 24, 1966 [July 23, 1965], No. 31507/65. Heading B8H. A harness for lifting invalids comprises a spreader frame 11, 12, 13, from which are detachably suspended a sling 25, for supporting the shoulders of an invalid, a sling 26, for supporting the lumbar region, and slings 27 for the thighs. The length of the slings 25, 26 are adjusted by buckles 31, 34 and the length of the slings 27 by movable pins 36 which fit into a series of pockets in the slings. The thigh slings may comprise a single band which is attached to the spreader at its ends and also centrally. A winch 19 may be of the kind illustrated in Specification 789,468. The invalid may grasp the upper ends of bars 11.
