Abstract

1,093,295. Slot racer. AMERICAN MODEL CAR RACEWAYS Inc. June 27, 1966 [April 12, 1966], No. 28696/66. Heading A6S. A model slot racer designed to be used with a track having an inverted "T" shaped slot44 and conductors 40 and 42 on each side of the slot, has a block 20 pivoted under the front of the car. Blades 48 and 50 extend down from this blade into the slot, these blades being narrower than the top of the slot. In between these blades are pieces as shown in Fig. 5. These are made of flexible material and are arranged so that at least one projection 52 is on each side of the block. The bevelled edges enable these to be pushed into the slot, but they spring out, as shown in the front view, Fig. 3, to hold the car on the track. Pickup of current is ensured at all times by metal braid 34 which has two ends 38 in contact with the conductor, and is connected to the motor via wire 30. By means of spring 56 and pin 62 moving in groove 64, when the car moves relative to the block as in cornering, pin 62 engages end 58 of spring 56 and provides a restoring force which tends to keep the car on the line of the track.
