Abstract

1,092,949. Deburring tool. L. A. KUBICEK and J. L. TOTH. March 24, 1965, No. 12357/65. Heading B3C. A deburring tool comprises a cylindrical body 10 having a transverse longitudinally extending slot 12 forming two integral deflectable arms 13 extending from the body 10. Adjacent, but spaced longitudinally from the free end of each arm is a cutting portion 14 which is provided with cutting edges 16 spaced on each side of the cutting portion 14. A collar slidably mounted on the support arms 13 is securable thereto by means of a set screw so that the radial flexibility and stiffness of the arms will depend on the longitudinal position of the collar 19 on the arms 13. In operation the tool end 30 is inserted into a hole in a workpiece and is rotated by driving means, axial pressure effects deburring and subsequent inward deflection of the arms to permit the tool cutters to pass through the hole. Withdrawal of the tool effects deburring of the other end of the hole followed by inward radial deflection of the arms 13 to permit the withdrawal of the tool from the workpiece. In alternative embodiments the cutting portion may be on one arm only and there may be two axially spaced cutting portions on each of the arms.
