Abstract

At one end of the square section tool shank (1) is a cylindrical recess (2) with a central hole (3) in its base which locates a peg (5) in the insert support (4). Grooves (9) in the wall (4a) fit over a pin (7) in the base (8) which protrudes into a groove (6) in the side of the recess; this forms an angular adjustment for the insert (11) and chip-breaker (12) in the support. A clamp (14) and screw (18) with opposite threads (18a, 18b) fit in another recess (13, 16). The damp has a side rib (15) preventing it turning and a diametrically opposite nose (17) which engages the top of the insert support to hold it in its recess (2). Changing supports allows the use of different cutting rakes.
