Abstract
1,092,121. Cleaning cine-films. V. STELLA and S. PELLACANI. Feb. 17, 1965 [Feb.17, 1964], No.6907/65. Heading G2C. [Also in Division D1] In apparatus for solvent cleaning or applying preservative or lubricant to both sides of a cine film, the film is fed around a rotating drum so that both sides may be wiped by means of an impregnated treating web. As shown, the film is guided from supply reel 1 and conducted by idler rollers in a double pass around drum 3. In its first pass, the emulsion side of the film faces outwardly and it is reversed by two 90 twists, in its run to and from idler roller 5 so that, in its second pass, the emulsion side faces inwardly. The take-up roll for the absorbent treating web is driven by a motor controlled so as to maintain a constant tension in the web. The treating surface is charged with solvent by an applicator roller 10 dipping into a constant level container 11 and is gradually renewed by a slow constant rotation of pressure rollers 12, 13.
