Abstract
1,091,934. Fluid-pressure servomotor systems. KLOCKNER HUMBOLDT DEUTZ A. G. March 10, 1965 [March 14, 1964], No.10153/65. Heading G3P. A remote control system for reversing internal combustion engines comprises a manual lever 21, Fig. 1 which is movable to select ahead or astern and in so doing actuate an engine cam-shaft 11 by fluid actuation of a piston 12 and also connects a supply line 26 or 27 to line 28. The engine control lever 34 is then actuated by solenoid valves 33, 37 in the required sequence under the control of the engine speed. The Fig. shows the system immediately after moving the lever 21 from ahead to astern and the control member 34 is the "stop" position with opposite sides of a piston 36 connected to exhaust and the solenoids 18, 19 energized by the actuation of a switch 17 moved by the piston 12 through lever 10. A pick-up 1 driven at engine speed controls a wiping contact 9 and as the speed reduces the solenoid 18 is first de-energized to connect lines 28 and 29 to move the lever to the start position. After the speed has dropped below idling speed, the solenoid 19 is de-energized and line 31 is connected to line 30 which is opened to exhaust through the valve 33 and the lever remains in the start position. As the engine starts in the reverse direction and reaches the idling speed, the solenoid 18 is energized and the line 28 is connected through line 30, valve 37 and line 31 to move the control lever 34 to the operating position.
