Abstract

A polyvinyl chloride shoe sole is made in a mould comprising interlocking rear and fore parts separable along a transverse line such that different rear parts may be added to the fore part to provide different types of rear end portions of the sole (Figs. 8, 10). The depths of the mould cavities in each part decrease at the lateral edges thereof to enable left hand and right hand soles to be produced by appropriately bending the sole (Figs. 11, 12). In a modification the mould comprises three interlocking parts, i.e. a fore part, a rear part, with a waist part therebetween. In both embodiments the rear end part may form a heel (27) integral with a sole portion (28).
