Abstract

1,091,536. Valves. SOCIETE ANGLOBELGE VULCAIN S.A. Aug. 12, 1965 [Aug. 28, 1964], No. 34518/65. Heading F2V. A non-return valve comprises two half butterfly valves 3 pivoted at 2 and loaded to the open position by weights 4. In the closed position shown, pins 5 prevent total stoppage of flow in the downward direction. In the open position (Fig. 5, not shown) a dish-shaped part 6 on each valve co-operates with a central hub 7 to prevent vibration. In the embodiment of Fig. 2, (not shown), a butterfly valve has its centre of gravity (10) located upstream of the pivot point (2) and its centre of pressure located downstream thereof. Reverse flow in the direction (13) thus causes the valve to close. A damping device may be provided to prevent water-hammer.
