Abstract

1,091,475. Hinge pins. FORD MOTOR CO. Ltd. July 2, 1966, No. 29794/66. Heading E2F. [Also in Division F2] A hinge pin comprises a resilient metal tube 1, with a slit 2 running its length to enable it to be contracted radially and a plug 3 (which may be of plastics material, e.g. nylon) located in the tube to contain lubricant therein. One end of the tube may be tapered at 4 to enable insertion of the pin and the other end is formed with a collar 5 by which the tube can be extracted from the hole. As shown in Fig. 2, the hinge pin may be inserted into aligned sockets 6a, 6b and 7a of hinge arms 6 and 7 welded to the door pillar and door of a motor vehicle respectively.
