Abstract

In a method of anodizing aluminium and aluminium alloys using an acid eletrolyte a pulsating current of electricity is passed through the bath. The anodic coating thus formed may be coloured. The acid bath may comprize sulphuric, oxalic or chromic acids. The current pulses may be of square waveform and preferably have a make to break ratio of 1:5. The make period may range from 1 to 100 milliseconds.
