Abstract
1,090,807. Fluid actuation of switches; switches held set and freed mechanically. P. H. SNOW. Oct. 12, 1965 [May 5, 1965], No. 18997/65. Heading H2B. [Also in Division G4] A warning alarm for attachment to a perambulator is actuated by movement of the perambulator, removal of the child from it, or by an animal, such as a cat, jumping on to it. The alarm comprises a toggle action switch which completes a circuit to a motor-driven bell or some other indicator, e.g. a siren or lamp. The switch-actuating mechanism comprises a three-armed member 5 pivoted on a pin 5a and a spring 7 connected between a pin 5b on one of the arms and a further pin 1b mounted on an axially movable rod 1. The rod 1 is pivotally joined at one end 1a to a further rod 2. To set the alarm, a key, or combination, mechanism is turned to rotate a cam 3 moving the rod 2 and the rod 1 axially to the left to project through a flexible bearing 1d and tension spring 7. The tip of the rod 1 is arranged to project between two spokes of a wheel of the perambulator, so that any movement of the wheel will deflect the rod 1 and cause the spring 7 to rotate the member 5 closing contacts 10a, 10b or 11a, 11b. The perambulator is provided with an air pillow connected via a pipe to a bellows 13c. With the child in the perambulator a screw 13b adjusted until aims 13g, 13h lie either side of pin 5b in the position any increase or decrease in weight on the pillow will cause the bellows to expand or contract, thus moving contacts 13g, 13h to deflect pin 5b and rotate the member 5 as before.
