Abstract

1,090,711. Removing dust in industrial processes. BABCOCK & WILCOX Ltd. Feb. 11, 1965 [Feb. 11. 1964], No. 5766/64. Heading F4X. Dust which has settled on the floor of ducting 1 from a flue-gas stream flowing through the ducting, is agitated by air discharged from a series of nozzles 3a, 3b &c. in the direction A of the gas outlet and is carried to the outlet entrained in the gas stream. The nozzles shown are arranged in pairs at or near the floor of the ducting and are actuated in succession towards the outlet, each pair of nozzles discharging after the discharge from the previous nozzle has ceased, by means of an automatic controller which is actuated by strain gauges 9 (Fig. 1), located in the support slings of the ducting to indicate the weight of dust accumulation in the ducting. The nozzles are supplied with compressed air from a receiver (5, Fig. 1) through a solenoid-operated valve (4).
