Abstract

1,090,325. Bulkhead doors. H. BUCHANAN & CO. Ltd. Sept. 12, 1966 [Sept. 11, 1965], No. 38876/65. Heading B7S. On a watertight door 1 pivotally mounted to a bulkhead 2 by two hinge batts 3, each hinge batt has a non-rotatable screw-threaded portion 8 supported by the bulkhead 2, a rotatable screw-threaded adjustment nut 15 and a locking nut 14 with flange 17 to restrain the adjustment nut 15 from movement along the axis of the screw-threaded portion 8 so that on rotation of the adjustment nut 15 the edge portion of the door moves towards or away from the bulkhead 2. Clamps denoted generally at 28 secure the edge portions of the door to the bulkhead and a continuous strip 23 of resilient material positioned on the face of the door to be in abutment with the edge of upstanding limb 22 of the door frame 20 gives watertight engagement, In another embodiment of the watertight door. Fig. 3 (not shown), the adjustment nut 15 is on that face of the bulkhead 2 adjacent to the door.
