[Also in Division E1] In a sound absorbent panel the or each slot (12, Fig. 2,) (or 24, Fig. 3) between spaced apart slats 10 (or 21) mounted on or integral with a support structure 11 (or 22) communicates over at least part of its length with at least one aperture 13 (or 26) which extends through the support structure and/or through the slats and which has a greater maximum width than that of the or a said slot. In a modification of the embodiment shown in Fig. 3, the aperture 36 which is similar to the aperture 26, Fig. 3, extends through the support structure 33, Figs. 5 and 6 (not shown). The panel may be of wood, metal or synthetic resin, and may have a backing of sound absorbing material such as glass fibre, mineral wool or plastics foam.
