Abstract

1,090,208. Releasable fastenings. FORD MOTOR CO. Ltd. Nov. 12, 1965, No. 48055/ 65. Heading E2B. A fastener comprises a shank 3a which in use passes through an aperture 5 in a panel 1, the shank having a radially projecting portion 3b which in use engages inturned flanges of a hollow moulding 2 which is to be secured to one side of the panel, one or more resilient projections 3c extending from the projecting portion 3b and which in use press against the inside of the front of the hollow moulding and a spring clip 6 which in use is mounted on a shank and which engages the opposite side of the panel to hold the moulding securely against the panel. In the construction, shown, in which the hollow moulding is a trim strip secured by a plurality of such fasteners, the radially projecting portion of each fastener has two resilient projections 3c and the spring clip is bifurcated so that it has two spaced apart legs, the legs engaging on opposite sides of the shank underneath a head 3d and portions of the spring clip on opposite sides of the shank pressing on the panel.
