Abstract

1,144,900. Stud and socket fasteners. HOWARD S. COOKE & CO. Ltd. 28 Oct., 1966 [5 Oct., 1965], No. 42288/65. Heading E2B. A turn button fastener comprises a headed stud 10 provided with a transversely elongated foot 15, spaced from the head 11 by a shank 14 for securing together between the head and the foot a pair of apertured parts 40, 41, a plate member 19 adapted to be secured to one of the parts and having a slot 22, capable of receiving the foot and a pair of pockets 23 one on each side of the slot, the pockets being shaped to locate the foot extending across the slot with the shank projecting through the slot whereby the parts are secured together, and a bowed spring element 30 separate from the plate member and adapted to be mounted about the shank of the stud to urge the parts into consolidation with the head and foot of the stud. The member 19 has a centrally formed circular depression 21 which contains the slot 22 and the part 40 has an aperture which is large enough to receive the projection on the opposite side of the member 19 which is formed by the depression; the pockets 23 are each bounded by shoulders 24, 24a the two shoulders 24a on diagonally opposite sides of the slot 22 being bevelled to aid the engagement of the foot with the pockets. The spring comprising channel 30 is a sheet metal disc having a central slot 31 to permit passage of the foot 15 therethrough and to receive a rectangular portion 16 of a boss 13 of the stud therein. A pair of lugs 32 extend one from each side of the slot 31 and engage the opposite sides of the shank 14.
