A method of spinning necks on aluminium aerofoil flasks &c. e1-e1 comprises rotating the flasks and feeding them along a tool F which is inclined to the direction of feed so as to progressively form the neck and is rotated to carry a rib 2 thereon against the rotating flask. A pair of cylindrical or conical tools P, F may be used having straight, stepped or helicoidal ribs 1, 2. The tools P, F may be arranged substantially horizontally, and the flasks may be driven electrically, pneumatically or mechanically.
