Abstract

1,089,411. Developing electro-static images. ARLSIDE Ltd. July 9, 1965 [April 9, 1964], No.14708/64. Heading G2H. Developer powder is supplied to a metering roller 3 by a cylinder 2 having a slot 7. The metering roller 3 has depressions (3a) Fig. 2 (not shown) which hold developer powder. A doctor blade 14, Fig. 1, removes powder adhering to the surface of the roller 3. A brush 16 bears against roller 3 to remove powder from the depressions. The brush 16 rotates in the opposite direction to the roller 3. The bristles 18 of the brush engage a flick edge 19 to discharge the powder as a cloud 20 towards an image bearing member 21. The apparatus may also be used for dispensing toner in a cascade developing apparatus.
