Abstract

1,089,007. Expansion joints. SECOMASTIC Ltd. Aug. 4, 1966 [July 1, 1965], No. 27924/65. Heading E1G. An expansion joint between concrete slabs 2, 3 comprises a layer of packing 6, which may be fibrous, a layer 7 of readily compressible foam rubber or plastics, a layer 8 of mastic or elastomeric joint sealant, a T-section metal cover strip having arms 11 extending in contact with the slab surfaces and a leg 10 keying into the sealant, and compressible strips of rubber or plastic 9 stuck between the arms and the leg to absorb movement of the sealant. The leg is preferably bifurcated and may be supported laterally by resilient saddles.
