Abstract
1328699 Expansion joints CONSTRUCTION SPECIALITIES Inc 7 Sept 1970 42810/ 70 Headings E1B and E1G An expansion joint between concrete floor sections 8 and 10 comprises elongate members 12 and 14 embedded in the edges thereof and a cast in situ polyurethane compressible seal member 28 cast around longitudinal reinforcement rods 24, which are held in position by preformed polyurethane supports 22, and into concavities 12c, 14c where it is securely held after curing by retaining lips 12f, 14f and 12g, 14g. In another embodiment at a joint between a floor and a wall the floor connection is as above and the cast-in situ polyurethane seal extends slightly down between the wall and the floor where it is supported by a resilient mass of sponge rubber or cork. In casting the first mentioned joint a thin flexible sheet of polythene is placed on the horizontal portions 12a and 14a and across the gap 2 to support the polyurethane during curing.
