Abstract

646,268. Expansion and like joints. DURATUBE & WIRE, Ltd., and THOMPSON, R. W. S. Sept. 28, 1948, No. 25231. [Class 20(iv)] A joint in a concrete, stone, asphalt or like construction comprises a flexible, generally flat, extruded strip of synthetic thermoplastic resin, e.g. polyvinyl chloride, embedded in the adjacent sections of the construction, the strip being formed with projections, ribs or corrugations which key the strip to the concrete or other material. The strip may be formed with a tubular part 5 which permits the sections 2, 3 to move slightly in a transverse direction without shearing the strip. In stone constructions, the strip is inserted in grooves which are cut for the purpose and are subsequently grouted.
