A fastener consists of a plunger and an arm 3 pivoted to the plunger on a transverse axis near the leading end of the plunger so as normally to extend along the plunger but to be movable through 180‹ into a position along a prolongation of the plunger, the arm 3 having an outer surface consisting of a cam face extending from the leading end of the plunger, a shoulder 4, a second cam face 5 extending obliquely outwards and means exerting resilient resistance to inward movement of the arm towards the plunger from its normal position. In the embodiment described the plunger is of channel section and the arm is made from a strip of spring steel; The resilient resistance is provided by an extension 7 of the arm which bears against a -web 8 of the plunger which is further, extended into a straight portion 11 which has two ears 14 on the end portion for mounting the arm on the plunger. When the fastener is inserted into an apertured flat member 11 the edge of the aperture rides along the cam surface 3 until the edge of the member 11 engages in the shoulder 4 (Fig. 4, not shown). The fastener is removed from the aperture by first pressing it further inwards until the edge of the member has ridden past shoulder 6. If the fastener is then, pulled out of the aperture the arm swings round by pressure on the surfaces 7, 11 from the inner face of the member 11 (Fig. 5) to allow the plunger to 'be removed. In another embodiment the leading cam face extends to be bent around a pin to form the pivoted mounting. Spikes 13 may be provided on the web 8 for mounting the fastener on an object such as a ceiling tile 14, the flat member 11 then being the ceiling supporting beam.
