Abstract

1,088,752. Photographic processing apparatus. KODAK Ltd. May 8, 1964 [May 10, 1963], No. 18716/63. Heading G2A. A photographic processing apparatus, for applying a layer of processing solution to the sensitive surface only of a sheet of photographic material, comprises at least one processing solution reservoir and associated supply means which replaces solution removed by the passage of sheets of material through the apparatus, and means responsive to the quantity of solution in the reservoir which operates alarm means when this quantity falls below a predetermined level. A sheet of material is coated with successive layers of developer and stabilizing solutions by passing it over two sets of horizontally disposed rollers 1, 2 dipping respectively into a developer bath 3 and a stabilizing bath 4. The respective solutions are supplied to the baths 3, 4 from reservoirs 8, 9 by means of pumps 11, 12. The reservoir 8 is supported on a platform 19 hinged to a base 20, the free end of the platform being attached to a spring 23 which exerts a constant force on the platform 19. When the reservoir 8 is full the platform rests on a microswitch 22. With a sufficient reduction in the mass of the solution in the reservoir, the spring 23 overcomes the combined mass of the reservoir and the platform 19 so that the microswitch is released to operate the alarm. The first or first and second rollers of the second set may rotate at a greater speed than the remaining rollers. This feature is claimed in Specification 1, 088, 753.
