Apparatus for developing sensitized sheet material by applying thereto a quantity of developing liquid, said apparatus comprising: an applicator roller mounted on a bearing support for rotation in a predetermined direction, said roller having a surface adapted to carry a quantity of developing liquid means for supplying developer liquid to said roller surface, said apparatus being characterized in that it has a first blade member extending along the roller used to reveal the sheet material and mounted adjacent to said roller for press fit with the respective surface in order to form a developing zone along a line of contact between them, through which the sheet material for developing is passed, and a second coextensive knife element along said first blade element mounted next to said roller for snap fit with said super respective surface, said blade member being last mentioned in front of said first blade element with respect to the rotational direction of the roller being positioned in order to control the amount of liquid supplied to said developing zone from the surface of the roller.
