A dehydration filter for removing water and foreign particles from liquid fuels comprises a housing and support members located therein and carrying a water-separating element made in layers of materials of different porosity so that the porosity of the element varies with the penetration of the water-separating element. As shown, the layers of materials forming the water-separating element 1 have mounted thereon a filtering element 2. The assembly is arranged on mesh frames 3 concentric with a containing shell 4. An inlet 5, fuel outlet 10 and water drain 7 are provided. The element 1 is made preferably of hydrophilic and hydrophobic fibre of organic origin.
