[Also in Division F1] A portable unit for providing filtered drinking water comprises a bottle 1, a handoperated pump 4, 5, 6 which pumps air into the bottle, and a filter element 16, which traps bacteria, connected to the outlet 17, 18, 19, 20. The filter element is of Kieselguhr impregnated with silver and is self-sterilizing. In a further embodiment, the filter element is fitted directly to the wall of the bottle and a tap is provided in the outlet.
