Abstract
1,084,833. Gain control of transistor amplifiers. TELEFUNKEN PATENTVERWERTUNGS G.m.b.H. Nov. 11, 1964 [Nov. 12, 1963], No. 45971/64. Heading H3T. Automatic gain control of one stage of a selective transistor amplifier is of a type which reduces the gain of the transistor by reducing its collector current and of an adjacent stage is of a type which reduces the gain of the transistor by increasing its collector current. By this means changes in input and output impedance may be made to cancel so that the bandwidth remains constant or varies in a desired manner. To avoid cross-modulation in a preceding stage it may comprise two transistors (Fig. 2, not shown) having their inputs in antiphase and their outputs in parallel so that the two outputs cancel when the stage is balanced. The gain of one transistor is then controlled to vary the extent of cancellation.
