Abstract

1,083,238. Boots &c. E. A. CHAMBERLAIN Ltd. June 30, 1966, No. 29437/66. Addition to 1,043,011. Heading A3B. The insole or insock of the parent Specification is incorporated as an integral part of an article of footwear. As described the insole 1 forms part of a slipper having an outer sole 6 e.g. of resin rubber and a loop 2 to retain the slipper on the foot. The ends 2a of the loop 2, which consists of polyvinyl chloride foam 8 covered by nylon 9, are sandwiched between the layers of the insole 1. The insole 1 consists of a layer 4 of brushed nylon, the brushed surface being uppermost, a layer of polyvinyl chloride foam 5 and a layer 3 of a monofilamentary mesh of a copolymer of vinylidene chloride and vinyl chloride. Atlernatively the layer 4 may be made from polyester or acrylic fibres. The layers of the insole 1, outer sole 6 and loop 2 are joined together by an edge weld 10 which melts the thermo-plastic monofilaments of the layer 3 but does not melt the fibres of the layer 4.
