Abstract

1,083,033. Document copying apparatus. RANK XEROX Ltd. Aug. 28, 1964 [June 7, 1963j, No. 22908/63. Headings G2A and G2H. In a document holder 11 which allows both sides of an opaque document 10 to be copied on to a single copy sheet and pivots about shaft 20 and pin 17 relative to the document carrying platen of the copying-machine, the document is retained between cheek pieces of the holder by indentations 16, first in the full-line position in the Fig. (not shown), and then in the brokenline position towards which the holder is spring- urged. The machine scans the underside of the document, the mechanism unlatching the holder 11 at the midpoint of its travel so that the document is reversed for the remainder of the scanning operation. The holder is then manually re-set by means of lever 12. The holder may be used in a xerographic copying machine.
