Abstract

1,081,688. Aerials. CSF. COMPAGNIE GENERALE DE TELEGRAPHIE SANS FIL. Dec. 15, 1964 [Dec. 19, 1963], No. 51030/64. Heading H4A. Each element of a logarithmicperiodic aerial array consists of a substantially closed loop conductor having a perimiter which is substantially equal to one wavelength at the central frequency of the pass-band at which that element is designed to operate. As described, the elements are rectangular loops spaced apart in parallel planes inclined to the vertical, their sizes and spacings varying logarithmically. In a system with two aerials of this kind, which are symmetrically disposed at Π25 degrees about a central vertical plane from a feed point O, Fig. 1, suspension cables (20), Fig. 2 (not shown) run from masts (11), (12) to a common lower mast (10). The elements (3) are attached to the cables (20), insulators (21), Fig. 4 (not shown), being interposed, and are braced by a steel cable (24). Their lower ends are held by a further cable (22) provided with insulators (26) and the open ends of each loop are connected to a bifilar feeder (40).
