Abstract

1, 081, 540. Automatic current control. LICENTIA PATENT VERWALTUNGS G. m. b. H. July 13, 1966 [July 13, 1965], No.31511/66. Heading G3R. [Also in Division H2] In a ship propulsion system, motors 10, 11 are supplied with constant current through rectifiers 14, 15, 16 from diesel-driven generators 17, 18, 19 of the synchronous type. A control signal representing the deviation of the actual motor current from a desired value is supplied simultaneously to exciters 27, 28, 29. A braking resistor 33 is connected into the constant-current circuit when the motors regenerate for braking the generator excitation being reduced for a short period just before switch 34 is closed at the end of a braking action. Each of the generators can be disconnected from it associated rectifier and connected to constantvoltage mains 38, the appropriate exciter then being disconnected from the constant-current regulator and connected to a constant-voltage regulator. An auto transformer or a Boucherot circuit may be connected between the mains 38 and one of the rectifiers 14-16.
