Abstract

1,078,701. Cathode-ray tubes. TELEFUNKEN-PATENTVERWERTUNGS. G.m.b.H. Aug. 4, 1964 [Aug. 28, 1963], No. 30631/64. Heading H1D. A cathode-ray tube has an anti-implosion frame 37 in the form of a separately formed band, e.g. of metallic strip, attached around the tube envelope at its region of maximum periphery by means of a gap-filling material 40, the front-facing edge of the frame having an inwardly projecting portion 36 forming an opening equal in size to or slightly larger than the maximum periphery of the envelope. The frame may be completely manufactured before it is attached to the tube. The gap between the projecting portion 36 of the frame and the tube envelope may be filled with an elastic or plastic sealing compound, e.g. rubber, applied by painting or spraying. The frame is provided with attachment lugs 39.
