Abstract
1,078,582. Suspended ceilings; spring dips. UNITED LIGHTING & CEILING CO. April 15, 1966 [June 15, 1965], No. 16492/66. Headings E1W and E2B. [Also in Division F4] A panel for a false ceiling which may be transparent for use below light fittings, or may be opaque, comprises a closed louvre structure having a sheet backing on one side, the backing having recesses along one edge conforming to the louvre pattern so that it can be mated with a similar panel having corresponding extensions for mating with the recesses on the first panel forming a joint to provide a continuous panel without the joints being visible. Two adjacent edges of the panel may have recesses and the other two edges extensions. The panels may be united by a clip consisting of an end 24 which engages over the edges of two adjacent louvres and a body part 26 passing through a hole in one of the panels and having a bent over flat end 27 engaging the opposite surface of the panels. The panels may be suspended from the ceiling by hangers consisting of a pair of flexible legs joined by a plate having shaped portions to engage a suspension bolt. The lower ends of the legs are turned inwards and may be passed through a hole in the panels, a disc being then inserted between the legs and engaged by the inturned portions. The disc may have a rib or slot to enable it to be used for screwing the hanger onto the bolt.
