Abstract

1,078,114. Automatic voltage control. ELECTRIC & MUSICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. March 20, 1964 [March 20, 1963], No. 10957/63. Heading G3R. A voltage regulator comprises a transformer 2 having a primary winding with different sections across which a supply voltage 3 can be applied by means of a switch 1 which is operated once in each half cycle of the supply voltage. The point in the half cycle at which the switching occurs is determined by a control circuit Fig. 2 (not shown) in dependence upon voltage variations, whereby the output voltage at the secondary winding of the transformer is maintained at a constant value. The switch 1 may comprise silicon controlled rectifiers which receive firing pulses from a blocking oscillator in the control circuit.
