Abstract
1,076,448. Transfer process. GEVAERT PHOTO-PRODUCTEN N. V. Oct. 23, 1964, No.43407/64. Heading G2C. A photographic image is produced by exposing a light-sensitive material comprising a silver halide emulsion layer, which may be a direct positive emulsion layer, a 3-pyrazolidone and a p-amino phenol or an o-primary amino phenol, or salt thereof e. g. the hydrochloride sulphate or oxalate, as developing agents and a substance which liberates water when heated, said developing agents and said substance being in the emulsion layer or in a layer or layers in contact therewith, and supplying heat to the exposed material in contact with an image-receiving sheet containing a non light-sensitive water-soluble metal salt e.g. a Cd, Co, Mg, Sn, Zn or Fe salt that forms a coloured reaction product with the aminophenol developing agent diffusing from the unexposed areas. The emulsion may be preheated before contact with the receiving sheet. Specified amino phenols are p-aminophenol and its hydrochlorides o-aminophenol, N-2-cyanoethyl-p-aminophenol, 2-hydroxy-3-amino-biphenyl hydrochloride and 4-amino-2, 6-diidophenol-hydrochloride. There may be present a substance liberating alkali on contact with water in one of the layers of the lightsensitive material e. g. sodium citrate, benzoate, formate and stearate, alkali and alkaline earth metal acetates, potassium palmitate and calcium lactate, and also hydrophilic plastizers e.g. glycerol, caprolactam and polyethylene glycols.
