Abstract

1,075,552. Labelling machines. H. KRONSEDER. April 8, 1965 [April 9, 1964], No. 14931/65. Heading B8F. A machine for applying labels to the neck as well as the body of a bottle 10 comprises a labelling cylinder 2 having flexible cushions 11 which extend into the path of the bottles. Labels are extracted from a magazine, then gummed and held in position over the cushion 11 by fingers 13 engaging anvils 12. The neck label applying means are mounted coaxially above the cylinder 2 and the labels after extraction from another magazine are held by similar fingers and anvils in front of blow nozzles. In use the bottles 10 deform the cushions 11 and the body labels are applied as cams release the finger 13 from the anvil 12. Deformation of the cushion 11 brings the neck near the neck label applying means as its holding fingers are released and an air blast is provided to apply the neck label. In one modification the cushions 11 are mounted on a pivoted arm and in another the fingers and anvils are pivoted together the label being held additionally by suction through the pad.
